10 Dog Training Hand Signals
Sit: Hand raised with palm facing upward and then brought downward towards the ground to signal the dog to sit.
Stay: Open palm extended towards the dog to indicate they should remain in place.
Lie Down: Arm extended downward towards the ground with palm facing downward to signal the dog to lie down.
Come: Arm extended forward with palm facing inward towards the body and then brought towards the chest to call the dog to come.
Heel: Arm extended alongside the body with palm facing inward towards the leg to indicate the dog should walk close to the handler's side.
Wait: Arm extended in front with palm facing the dog to indicate they should pause or wait.
Leave it/Drop it: Arm extended towards the object with palm facing the dog to signal them to leave or release the item.
Stand: Arm extended in front with palm open and facing upward to indicate the dog should stand on all fours.
Go/Release: Arm pointed in the desired direction with palm open and facing that way to signal the dog to go or be released.
Shake hands/Paw: Hand extended towards the dog's paw with palm presented for the dog to offer their paw for a handshake gesture.
